Roland's Sound Story by G-Boy at 3:15 PM EST on FebruI compared some samples from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story to some instruments in the Roland SC-VA, and I think I've heard from someone on this forum that the synth bass used in the soundtrack from that game comes from the SC-88, but I can't find that sound in the VA. But I wouldn't necessarily count on great support from either company.HCS Forum - The VGM/Others Instrument Source Thread I would say this: if you can successfully get both programs' demos to run, make your decision based on how you feel about their operation first, feature set second. Now, just to be fair, writing a translation program represents no lack of serious effort on the part of its programmers, and I'm sure the Rubber Chicken guys wouldn't be in business if their software was an outright waste of time. Regarding those bugs, repeated emails to them to fix a tuning bug (the 442->440 tuning option) and an application-switching/display bug went unanswered. But aside from that, it's a tremendous program, works great! So far I've found two small bugs in the program. I tried the demo, it worked first time out, and I bought it. But the number of translations it offers are tremendous. It's so PC-ported-over-to-Mac in appearance. And though beauty is only skin-deep, I was not impressed or inspired by their interface. When I did eventually get someone on the phone they didn't know what to suggest to get the demo running. I couldn't ever get the Rubber Chicken demo version to work, either on OS9 or OSX, and several phone calls and emails to their rep went unreturned. Speaking from experience with both of these companies, I don't know that one provides better support that the other.
